Is it just me or are men game for almost any activity that involves a gun?
Tomorrow, nursery furniture arrives. Well, two dressers, two twin beds, a nightstand and a rocking chair in tiger’s eye maple. As a Realtor, I enjoy hearing clients figure out loud which rooms will be for which family member and where furniture will go. I’m lacking that clarity thus far. Not 100% sure where everything will be set up and there’s the matter of the crib.
Dear baby supply stores and big box outlets: please don’t leave things on your display floor that are A. already sold out 2. not an option to purchase as they have been on display and are considered “unsafe for resale” and III. provide no alternates for ordering purposes. So, of course I have scoped out some back-up options which aren’t exactly what I had in mind but in terms of features and function are on par, but price point, of course is more. . .beware the DANG upsale! Le sigh.
Tomorrow is a big gathering at the house, to both unpack and unload furniture but also to meet and greet. I’m taking full advantage of pregnancy insomnia to catch up on projects that didn’t get done today while showing homes. I have one key lime pie (from scratch) complete and cooling and one “crack” pie in the oven ( http://chefindisguise.com/2013/06/27/momofuku-milk-bar-crack-pie/ ) and deviled eggs hanging out in the fridge. Tomorrow I am whipping up some roasted lamb and a tenderloin, couscous and ratatouille. Somehow I feel if I can’t help with the heavy lifting I can at least make sure everyone is full after the fact.

And for those thirty of so of you per week that are finding my site looking for a registry (I use my nerd powers for good instead of evil (-; ) , target, babies r us and amazon- at some point I suppose I should post links and I’ll get around to that, but there’s laundry to be done and a wiry black lab puppy who needs a bath before we call it a night!
Hope your summer is treating you well! As always, you’re welcome to contact me @ McKenzieSellsHomes@gmail.com for Residential Real Estate questions and needs. Rentals, sales, bank-owned, short sale, investment and more- I’m your Eastern North Carolina connection.
Sooo, quickie update, yes, my firm was number one for all of last year for the whole of Onslow County and for the first quarter of this year as well and real estate is going just swimmingly here on Onslow County, which, generally, being known as “On-Slow” County is a feat in itself.
I was lucky enough to break away from work for the weekend to see two great pals get married up near Beaufort (NC) at a loverly new Golf Course community. . .which is looking a little slow to sell, lots of vacant home sites. . .sad that I can’t turn the work thing off at times. . . but looked like a pretty course so if you’re ever in Beaufort, I have a place to send you! A group of gal pals and I are finally getting around to planning a group golf lesson or two. . .we have such crazy schedules I don’t know when it will happen, but we have more than one instructor who has been voluntold to be there. . .Hi Carl (in particular), sorry you told us what a great coach you were before you knew you were getting nominated! I promise to not wear pink, Lisa on the other hand is on the look out for pink clubs. . .embrace it, it’s going to happen. . .I’ll bring a cooler . . . 🙂
Hope your summer is going well all. . .slather on the sun screen and if you’re enjoying a season of lowlights, a fabulous beach trick to try that will leave you looking like an extra from a Soul Glow Commercial but your hair in fabulous shape is to take an empty and clean spray bottle and dump in one third sunblock, one third hair conditioner and one third water, shake and spray all over your noggin. . . cheers to a season of not looking like a q-tip!
I had to let you know about a beautiful new construction community in the Holly Ridge area, a hop, skip and a jump away from the beach. The Cottages at Holly Ridge hosted a lovely open house for us agents to preview their beautiful new homes built in sort of a crafstman-like manner. Attention to detail, fine appointments, great paint colors and cool floor plans await in this planned and peacefull community. Contact me today for additional information, priced, floor plans and to set up a preview for yourself, though, sadly I am sure the caterers will not be there:
Check out the amazing folks at:

Sorry I have been under the radar and not writing nearly exciting enough stuff for you to check in on though I see, as expected the Marine Corps Ball Gown blurbs are the most popular this time of year. I hope you take the time to visit the Angel’s Voices website on those two blog entries, it is a wonderful charity and the woman running it has a huge heart. . .please support it.
I have had my hands full with work thise season, a blessing considering the news you see and hear, the Jacksonville area and it’s market are sort of a safe harbor from the storm. If you have questions about it, I’d love to help find some answers for you. As usual I remain a hard working real estate broker with seven years industry experience and a life time of moving and renovating homes ( I have mad skills when it comes to living mid renovation with just a microwave and a bath tub to do dishes in). . .and I plan to be in this business for life. Yes, I have been busy but I can always find time to answer questions, help you navigate the real estate transacation and of course meet new folks. I do work seven days a week, all year long with the occasional hooky session for an afternoon in maybe Swansboro or Topsail to shop and lucn with pals. I rarely smell bad, never bite and generally won’t make you want to climb the walls if you spend extended time with me in my office or in the car house hunting. . .
Keep your eyes peeled for me as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army next month. I think the post I volunteered for was at the local Sam’s Club on Western, but I’ll post more specifics later. . .I hope you can come out and contribute to the cause!
It seems daily we hear locally of new jobs, new companies and corporations joining our great community. SAIC (www.saic.com) , Barnes and Noble (www.barnesandnoble.com), Starbucks (www.starbucks.com), and Walmart (www.walmart.com) have increased their stakes in the Jacksonville and Surrounding Onslow County economy joining businesses already enjoying the troop increases like Target, Petsmart, Pier One, and more.
Jacksonville has come a long way baby, and is growing daily. . .the various planning departments of our community are working overtime to make room for the troops that have already begun to move into the area, an expected 9,900 in our area by 2011. . .not to mention the various civilian counterparts and support positions that will crop up along the way. It’s an exciting time to call this area home.
