The last few months I have felt like I have been riding the bench professionally during a great game. I managed to pull it together for last night’s festivities which, despite the contractions and sore feet and being overheated, made me feel a little more myself for a night which was a nice change of pace. Everyone is joking that “once the baby arrives, you’ll be exhausted and it will slow you down”- they’ve obviously not experienced a difficult pregnancy.
Looking forward to launching some new projects and ideas and having my new right-hand-man by my side. Subletting my body for the last year has given me time to fill MANY notebooks. . .big plans and goals for the future!
Today is also my birthday. I had a talk with baby Garrett- included the philosophy my folks instilled that early is on time, on time is late and late is unforgivable. I buffered the delivery and birthday conversation with the pointer that with both his father and my birthdays close to the due date, it would be lovely if everyone kept separate special days. Last week we made it through a harvest moon, a packed labor and delivery department at the hospital and his father’s birthday. This week I cleared my docket and rearranged a few big plans in anticipation since we are making very slow and steady delivery process. The average first birth is fifteen hours, so reaching mid-day on my birthday I feel I’m safe to guess that we are in the clear but ANY TIME from here on out would be lovely. Baby G, I’ll take a rain check for a day with no nausea, and getting to take a quick nap on my stomach as a present from you. 🙂
Hope you have big things brewing too! Cheers to planning for an amazing sis-bang-boom to send out 2013 and to putting things in place and in motion for an even more amazing 2014!
Almost complete with the name change but finally have a few official documents back so I can expedite things like changing them with NAR (National Association of Realtors), NCAR (North Carolina Association of Realtors) etc. . .the parts of name change house keeping that aren’t all that fun.
New business cards will be in the works, and even MORE incentive to get back in shape ASAP- new head shots and thank HEAVENS for Pinterest and SECRET boards! Inspiration and outfit ideas but looking forward to no more edema and perhaps finding something new-mommy yet professional. We shall see!
But the not-so-new-news is that it’s officially McKenzie Johnson again- and working on LOTS of domain name overhauls and the KW phone app etc. which had t wait until the name change became official.
Hope you’re well!
Check out the public portion of my Pinterest boards @ http://www.pinterest.com/mckenzie27/boards/ I passed 1,000 followers this week- so my late night and early am pregnancy insomnia seems to be helping “win friends and influence people”- or, at the least, find folks with equally annoying sleeping patterns OR who also spend time waiting in driveways for clients to show homes and pin a bit. 😉

Educating yourself about real estate shouldn’t.
I promise, no spam or terrible links. Brief snippets about real estate in Eastern NC and hopefully more to come- pending negotiations with some exclusionary contracts pending a possible tv deal, long story, and RIGHT up there with working on having a baby, I’ve reached the hopefully near a decision making point where things may come to fruition oooooorrrrr we all move on.
Meantime, despite the fun rumors, I plan NO maternity leave (crazy talk you say? nay, single mom roaring, look out business world, fighting for more than an arbitrary goal list from here on out.) so I will most certainly be moving forward with my team in helping folks in Eastern NC with their real estate needs as well as our FREE red carpet concierge service to help folks relocate anywhere in the world.
As usual, visit http://www.JasonGruner.com for more real estate info, a great free phone app and AMAZING access to local real estate information.
I’m also working on a stroller patrol, if you’re local and looking to network for running and/or walking – we’re working on a fun group to help cheer one another on towards their goals, not to mention just the fun fellowship and friendship. 🙂
Hope you are well and enjoying your internet browsing this evening!
POCS, endometriosis, and fibroids. A surgery that took twice as long as planned and was considered not possibly a “success” followed by months of multiple daily injections, mixing drugs, MANY visits to ECU and Brody School of Medicine for treatment, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture . . .and years later after thinking kids of my own were not exactly in the cards. . .the best surprise ever. I actually hung on to this last pack of drugs and shot kit as a reminder that the timing would be right to try the whole turning-myself-inside-out routine one more time.
Life is short, take the plunge, try the path less traveled. . .sure, the water can be rough or the path filled with briars and pot holes. . .but that’s how you get to the most amazing places.
More of something is sometimes a beautiful thing- particularly in the case of either wine or butter (though not together, well, together in perhaps a meal but not in a glass).
With the grandparents move to the coast this summer I took the opportunity to adopt some family pieces up for grabs for the nursery for Mr. Wonderful-due-to-arrive-this-early-fall. So, note that one of the pics above is a sneak peek of the nursery prior to it’s paint job and new fan installation and of course hanging things and rearranging the furniture so things aren’t staged against the walls like a bad sixth grade dance and, yes, that’s a seersucker sports coat for him-he already has social obligations next Spring and Summer so, naturally, he needed something natty to wear.
Leave it to my family, things started out with “I’d love a twin big boy bed for the nursery.” to “Sure, I’ll take both and the matching nightstand.” and escalated to “Yes, I’d love two twin beds, two dressers, an arm chair and a mirror all in solid maple as well as a funky vintage reading chair and ottoman.”- which they took to ALSO mean that they would be sneaking in two lamps and two complete designer picked out and custom made chintz bed sets complete with blankets and pillows. . . .AND in my zipping home to let Miss Mabel Merry Lou out in the yard for a few moments between appointments noticed the box number seemed off and I spotted a box of “French prints.” Classic.Jolly.Johnson.Family.Fun.
Your favorite Realtor may be in need of an extra wing on the home or, if you stop by for dinner, in addition to a doggy bag of leftovers to carry home, you may also be leaving with an end table.
Is it just me or are men game for almost any activity that involves a gun?
Tomorrow, nursery furniture arrives. Well, two dressers, two twin beds, a nightstand and a rocking chair in tiger’s eye maple. As a Realtor, I enjoy hearing clients figure out loud which rooms will be for which family member and where furniture will go. I’m lacking that clarity thus far. Not 100% sure where everything will be set up and there’s the matter of the crib.
Dear baby supply stores and big box outlets: please don’t leave things on your display floor that are A. already sold out 2. not an option to purchase as they have been on display and are considered “unsafe for resale” and III. provide no alternates for ordering purposes. So, of course I have scoped out some back-up options which aren’t exactly what I had in mind but in terms of features and function are on par, but price point, of course is more. . .beware the DANG upsale! Le sigh.
Tomorrow is a big gathering at the house, to both unpack and unload furniture but also to meet and greet. I’m taking full advantage of pregnancy insomnia to catch up on projects that didn’t get done today while showing homes. I have one key lime pie (from scratch) complete and cooling and one “crack” pie in the oven ( http://chefindisguise.com/2013/06/27/momofuku-milk-bar-crack-pie/ ) and deviled eggs hanging out in the fridge. Tomorrow I am whipping up some roasted lamb and a tenderloin, couscous and ratatouille. Somehow I feel if I can’t help with the heavy lifting I can at least make sure everyone is full after the fact.

And for those thirty of so of you per week that are finding my site looking for a registry (I use my nerd powers for good instead of evil (-; ) , target, babies r us and amazon- at some point I suppose I should post links and I’ll get around to that, but there’s laundry to be done and a wiry black lab puppy who needs a bath before we call it a night!
Hope your summer is treating you well! As always, you’re welcome to contact me @ McKenzieSellsHomes@gmail.com for Residential Real Estate questions and needs. Rentals, sales, bank-owned, short sale, investment and more- I’m your Eastern North Carolina connection.
Hard to believe things are moving along so quickly but in hindsight, it’s been a LOOOOONG few months.
http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-26.aspx (they do sent it a day or two early, but the best video clips compared to other sites, and I don’t have to imagine wee man as a fruit or a veggie.
Off to do some shopping with pals and a special lunch-might work on my crib pro and con list while we’re out- yet ANOTHER pal welcomed a baby this weekend, and she didn’t have a name until this morning. . .I can appreciate the indecision and the hand wringing trying to come up with the perfect name. Welcome to the world Blake Mahoney B. Hope you’re loving your first Montana weekend! 🙂
